President's Message

昭和4年の創立以来、本校の歴史は今年で74年を数えることになりました。この間常に、時代の最先端で創造活動をするプロフェッショナルの育成を目標に、実践的なプログラムの導入によって激変する時代の流れに対応してまいりました。そこには本校の教授陣が、世界で最もクリエイティブであり、また合理的な考え方と指導方法を誇るニューヨークのＦＩＴ（ファッション工科大学)で学んだ実践教育の流れが息づいてきました。 　その一方、足利という街も日本全体の産業構造がそうであるように、生産中心から知識集約型のアパレル・タウンとして変貌をとげてまいりました。このような社会の変革に対応すべく、本校では服飾分野の専門教育という枠を越え1989年に日本語学科を新設。グローバリゼーションの波をいち早くカリキュラムにも取り入れました。 　そして1991年、今まで親しんできた校名である大貫服装専門学校を「足利コミュニティーカレッジ」として校名変更いたしました。 　70余年の伝統ある基盤に立ち、広い視野と柔軟な思考力、そして果敢な行動力を身につけた人材の育成を目標として、真の意味で地域社会そして世界とダイレクトにリンクする教育の場の創造を行ってまいります。 校長　大貫 輝

Our school has a proud history of 74 years of education since its establishment in 1929. During this period, we have always steived to provide professional-level instruction based on trend-setting creative activities. The introduction of practical training programs has continually allowed us to stay abreast of the changing times.  We are also convinced that our faculty is among the most creative in the Japanese education world. Instruction methods learned at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York dominate trends in practical training.  Like the entire industrial structure of Japan, the town of Ashikaga has evolved from a production center into a knowledge-intensive apparel town. To better respond to such changes,the school established a Japanese language course in 1989 to augment our specialized education in the field of fashion. This course and two other new non-fashion courses were qickly incorporated into the curriculum,and the school's name was changed from Onuki Fukuso Senmon Gakko to Ashikaga Community College in 1991.  Based on a foundation that includes a tradition of more than 74 years, the goal of the school's education is to instill students with a wide perspective,flexible thought, and the bold ability to succeed. Our ultimate objective is creation of an educational center that is directly linked to the regional community and the world in every respect. President AKIRA ONUKI
